The Heralded Return of DBZ Uncensored: The OA, by Great Saiyaman

Hey everybody, it's GreatSaiyaman777! Long time no see huh? If you're wondering where I've been, or why I haven't responded to your emails, or why Winx Fansubs has been on indefinite hiatus (sadly, right after the first episode got fansubbed too- if you check the site and e-mail Spider Braids he might be able to hook you up with it) or anything, well.... it's a long story.

To make it short I got injured and then later had someone in my personal life tragically pass on. Add to that all the insanity of Machiavellian internet-drama politics of SJR which left a ton of bad memories, and.... well that's all in the past.

Recently however, I found out some bad news. The Dbzoa got destroyed. That also means that every single inch of Chris Psaros's site "DBZ Uncensored" also got destroyed. It's been down for months with no explanation at all whatsoever. It used to be run by Leia until she passed it off to SJR. If you've read my editorial on SJR and why I left, you know about him already. I really don't think going over the insane crap with him is appropriate for an update, but unfortunately it is relevant to the circumstances surrounding what's just happened so I think I need to go over it again.

Basically what happened between me and SJR was, I pissed him long ago and he held an obsessive grudge against me. His brother's been to the insane asylum, his family once forced him to be temporarily homeless for flunking a semester and he assaulted/harassed his ex-girlfriend among other things (I'm actually friends with her now, she tells me that he used to complain to her about me nonstop even though she repeatedly told him she found it annoying). Psyhotically crazy, angry, and highly manipulative to boot. Karl Rove should pick him up as an apprentice. Over time SJR began a campaign of harassment against me, trying to get banned from the site several times (and actually lying about it too!). It was very stressful for me, all the different shit and drama he created.

He was helped by the fact that NONE of the other staffers believed me when I said he was harassing me. Even worse, a lot of them hated me and loved him. I never liked most of them because I felt like they were wastes of space at the Dbzoa- nobody did ANY work relevant to the site, and most of them hated DBZ! And I wasn't afraid to call them out on it. For them Dbzoa was just a playclub, being a staffer was just a spiffy title to show off and brag about, for me it was a really serious site to try and tell people about the changes Funimation did to the show and convert people to the original (which I did a lot of) and to try to convince Funimation to change it's ways. On the other hand, SJR maintained very close personal friendships with all of them, talking to them frequently both online and on the phone. About 1/2 of them actually spent thousands of dollars just to meet each other in persona actually, having a sleepover and barbecue together.

But in any case, SJR being a Machievellian political Karl Rove-type understood the power structure of Dbzoa far better than I did. He proudly called it a "one vote, each staffer Democracy" while I called it a "Communist society where everybody is treated equal regardless of how much or how little work they do." If you expect your politicians to do the opposite of what they're elected to do, I guess it was a Democracy. His espoused view in the staff forums was certainly more popular than mine. I think you realize that power came from the staff member loving you as a best buddy and little else, right? You can interview a Toeir animator who has done work on both DBGT and One Piece, and get one sympathetic Funimation voice actor to agree to an anonymous interview since Funimation had to pre-approve their interviews, but goddamnit, that doesn't anything compared to barbecuing some weiners on the grill and playing X-Box together.

In any case I eventually left the Dbzoa on bad terms, attacking the site for abandoning it's goals completely and for the cruel/uncaring nature of most of the staff there, most particularly SJR. Near the end of my time there SJR talked himself into becoming the head of the site.... for literally no other reason than to try to make it easier to ban me. That was basically how the last leader of the Dbzoa came to be, a sad state of affairs from the great Azrael (who now runs the famous "I am a Japanese school teacher" website) to the nice and hard-working (but completely incompetent when it came to dealing with staffers) Leia.

And so in 2006 I left the place for good and came here along with YGO U. (I also helped talk Kevin into not letting his site fall off the internet, and tried to talk him and JD [or was it just him? Don't remember when I first started talking to JD.] into merging their sites/work together. They used to be on Dbzoa but also moved for many of the same reasons I did.) Shortly after that, I did a few enthusiastic updates before my injuries set in, some bad personal stuff happened, and now I've finally come back.

While leader of Dbzoa SJR did little to no content. Eventually a lot of the site went down, which Leia updated a bit about. But with Wedge the head technical guy there now permanetetly gone, (he could fix any computer problems) it completely disappeared off the face of the map. Dbzoa, dead. DBZ Uncensored, also dead. Leia couldn't fix it on her own and SJR and the rest of the Dbzoa staffers, current and ex, simply did not care to give a damn.

However, I did care and I did luck out. When making my new site I originally decided to use the same format/layout as Psaros's old site. Basically I copied over his old html files, saved the design, and altered a few things slightly. Some people fussed at me for using such his old, out-dated and slightly antiquated (but still nostalgically good!) site style but the main thing is, I had all of his site saved and the Dbzoa dying didn't have to mean the end of DBZ Uncensored!

I've been wondering what to do for a first update (my original idea was nothing compared to this) and the moment JD told me about what had happened to Psaros's DBZ Uncensored literally less than one hour ago, I immediately knew what to do. Ladies and gentlemen, update those links on your websites and in your bookmarks because "it" is back in it's original, unbastardized style, just like old DBZ Fansubs were and just like all anime should be.... if you haven't seen it before, you don't know what you're missing.... it's the site that helped bring us subtitled DBZ, the site that created the anti-Funimation movement that forced Funimation to change it's ways and treat all of it's other animes with respect, and the site that's the very sole reason why you're reading these words today.... it's-

THE GRAND RETURN OF DBZ UNCENSORED!

Big thanks to JD for giving me the news! (and thank God my html sucks or I'd never have needed to save this file in the first place!) As for myself, expect monthly updates from me either here or at my other site! And Chris, thanks for all your hard work! I promise you that as long as I'm still around I'll always make sure that all your hard work and legacy still has a place online! And even after I'm gone someone else will do so too!

NEXT TIME: Will uncut DVDs ever be released to the public? JD's thoughts.
