 The Goals Here

Well folks, every webmaster has an opening page editorial, and even though I’m a bit late with mine I’d like to express the reasons why I created this site, and what I hope to accomplish with it. First let’s start with the obvious question: Why “Yu-Gi-Oh! Uncensored?” The idea of creating an “uncensored” website is getting kind of old at this point. I mean we’ve had a site for DBZ, Pocket Monster’s, Digimon, Sailormoon, Cardcapors (Cardcaptor Sakura), and Anime News Network has episode comparisons for various anime series that air on Cartoon Network. Needless to say at this point the idea probably seems to have over stayed it’s welcome. Plus the last thing we need is another “Yu-Gi-Oh!” site right? Well that’s what I thought too, but something changed my mind.

At the famous “Dogasu’s English-Japanese Pokemon Site” (Currently known as “Dogasu’s Backpack”), there was an article written by a guy name Alan Tse. It was about the premier of “Yu-Gi-Oh!” on Kids WB. It was a brilliant, funny, harsh, and inspiring article, and it made me realize that he was right about many things! The dub was inexcusable, bad, and most likely people would not even have a clue that this show was any good by just watching this show dubbed. A website HAD to be made to let the truth be known, and so with that I was inspired to make this site. If this sounds like a stupid reason to make a website and commit time and energy to it then I guess I couldn’t argue too much with you. I mean it was just ONE article, and I’ve read many, but it was inspiring enough for me to do research! What kind of research you ask? “Yu-Gi-Oh!” research.

I discovered many people weren’t aware of the Japanese version of “Yu-Gi-Oh!” at all. Many people were unaware of the fact that the first series (First 27 episodes) was skipped. They had no idea of the very dark and deep manga (Japanese comic) that was out there. They had no idea of all the changes and cuts made to the show. And the worst part was most of it wasn’t going to change anytime soon (Viz brought the manga over to America in a wonderful uncut and uncensored translation). Someone needed to tell the people about this stuff, but aside from “Edo’s Yu-Gi-Oh! Website” there are hardly any “Yu-Gi-Oh!” sites that had information on the Japanese version. So this page is here to help people know about this stuff, and make people aware that they are only getting half the story with the English version.

Anyway that’s goal number 1, my main goal is to expose the truth to a lot of people. Then hopefully create some sort of demand for an uncut subtitled version on DVD. I know it’s a long shot considering what companies are involved in the handling of the show, but there should always be hope. So coming up will not only be criticisms of how the show is handled, but suggestions to the suits on how they could treat the show…whether that be on the dubbed or subbed version of the show. So enjoy the site, and hopefully someday uncut “Yu-Gi-Oh!” will become a reality.

NEXT TIME: Next time I'm going to express to all interested parties about ways they could consider when it comes to bringing the original 27 episodes of "Yu-Gi-Oh!"
