Updates

August 28th, 2005 at 5:20 PM EST Very soon, we, Yuugiou Uncensored, will take it upon ourselves once and for ALL to determine which console is the best one of the three current contenders: Nokia N-Gage QD, Sony PSP, and the Nintendo DS.  Some classifications we will use: Design, Graphics, Price, Games, Knick-Knacks, and Battery Life.  I'll be using sources from IGN.com, Nintendo.com, Playstation.com, and Nokia.com.

That'll be the last update for a while, as I go back to school on August 30th.  I'm going to be taking the SATs again, so I'll be doing rapid-fire studying until December, on top of the Algebra II and the other regular subjects.  I also may do a final comparison or two on Monday if I have time.

And so, I am opening it up for Webmaster submissions. If you would like to be a webmaster for Yuugiou Uncensored, you must have the following qualifications:

  • 1 Update a Week, whether it be a Content update or a Non-update.  When e-mailing me your qualifications, please tell me what color you want your signature to be. (Mine is blue, Kevin's is orange.)
  • Must know FrontPage at the minimum, if not HTML
  • Must have a basic understanding of FTP'ing when given a User ID, FTP URL, Port, and Password. (I highly recommend FreeFTP.)

If you can fulfill these three, please e-mail me.

August 26nd, 2005 at 1:45 AM EST Hey all, I'm here with a nice non-update for ya.  Well, it's sort of an update.  Yuugiou: Nightmare Troubadour is looking better than EVER on the DS, and I daresay it's only one of five or six games to truly utilize the DS's second screen.  You watch the game in full 3D on the top screen (with a frame rate of a glorious 60 fps, I might add), and in the bottom screen you have a mini-version of the full 3D goings-on, in 2D (so it sacrifices no frame rate), and you use it to play monsters / set traps / etc.

Check out some vids at IGN!

Let's see Kevin explain why this one is "yet another sequel". ;)

JD- Some more games which have 60 fps are Animal Crossing DS (since the only thing on the top screen will be the day/night sky) and Mario Kart.  Even though these two don't fully take advantage of both screens, games will be played faster than ever before on a handheld.  PSP, I'm talking to you!

August 23rd, 2005 at 7:31 PM CEN Hey everyone, Kevin here with an update...for the first time in a couple months. So what HAVE I been doing all this time since my last update?! Well...mainly reading a bunch of Harry Potter fanfiction to be honest. Oh, and working. I feel so left out now. We have a bar that tells everyone when the sites been updated last (way to put the preasure on us to update moe often JD), we have a new message board, and we're seeing more blue then we are orange. *sigh* I really need to get off my butt and start contributing more to this site then to my boring as heck blog. Anyway, you're all probably wondering why I'm updating today. Well, we have a new opinion piece up. Not just any opinion piece mind you, a ONE PIECE opinion piece! And not just ANY "One Piece" opinion piece, but a "One Piece" opinion written by Alan Tse, who's editorial "Yu-Gi-Oh!...Another Cardcaptors?" inspired me to make this site. So yeah, this new opinion is a big deal for me, and I HIGHLY recommend you read it here! Enjoy, and I'll see you again...sometime in the future.

Kevin - I Need Cash

August 16th, 2005 at 1:35 PM EDT Here we go, ladies and gentlemen... be prepared to meet... English Episode 54!  Not only do I compare the episode, but also there's a side-by-side comparison of the Japanese/English VAs since this episode officially marks the beginning of the BC tournament. Enjoy!

After reading the comparison, discuss it here.

JD

August 15th, 2005 at 1:35 PM EDT We finally have a message board! Go there!

JD

August 13th, 2005 at 11:25 AM EDT I have been playing Runescape for the last couple weeks.  I'd just like to clarify, it's one of the best Middle Age-based MMORPGs of all time, no question.  Online, tons of quests, lots of skills to hone, and if you become a member the fun is just unlimited.  If you like tons of people around you, you go to the San Francisco worlds, and if you want few people around you, you go to the New York worlds (strangely enough).

But, that all changes today.  Instead of spending the past two hours on RS... I have spent it...

Creating English Episode 53!  This one is extremely meaty, since the episode is crap in the dub.  They completely screwed up a very dramatic episode, and made it classic 4Kids.  (I.E. a piece of crap.)  Take a look, you'll see what I mean.

JD

August 11th, 2005 at 5:15 PM EDT Hello, all.  I have waited the last few days to make a new update while I calmed down after my previous update.  I seldom make a fully political update like the one before this, if any, however after recent events there was no way I could just keep the political nut in me in check as I usually do.

I have received great support and hate mail from both sides of the arena.  To those who supported me, whether it be the views themselves or at least accepted that their fellow political nut webmaster has to vent every year or so, thank you.  I am thinking about submitting to the chaos and making a blog of my own, an uncensored blog for those who want to look at how I feel about things, and of course leaving this site as the place where I inform viewers about the horrid dub company that has mutilated the wonderful anime of Yuugiou.  As for those people who weren't exactly welcoming my update, I said to them that they could either ignore the update and wait for the next one, or cease viewing the site entirely.  Oh, and in case you are wondering, I'm putting the funniest piece of hate mail up on the website for all to see.

For those who love the content... I tell you sometime within the next week or so we should have some new comparisons.  The reason the content has been dormant these past weeks is because I've been either playing Runescape, doing chores, or of course preparing for next year's load of schoolwork.

Until I get a blog of my own, there may be another political Update or two, because I'm just too obsessed with politics to hold it in.

JD

August 8th, 2005 at 12:20 PM EDT Jack Thompson is an asshole.

I normally don't use profanity when I make statements such as the one above, but it's true.  Of course, I usually love democrats- but they need to focus on putting together campaign money to win the 2008 election and save our butts from a twenty year war with insurgents in Iraq after Bush called this War on Terror... oh, I mean the Global Struggle Against Extremism. (By the way, President Bush had no authority to call this war in the first place.  According to the Constitution, presidents do not have the authority to declare war.  It must be approved by Congress before wars can commence.  In other words, this entire war is invalid.  Congress can one day approve a bill that will end this entire war, and that will be it.)  Anyway, Mr. Thompson is using the whole San Andreas controversy to further his own agenda.  As I've said before, why is San Andreas the one to receive an AO rating?  There are many other games that could qualify, but of course this game must take the fall.

JD - And the above also applies to Assemblyman Yee, as well as Senators Clinton, Lieberman, and Santorum.

August 6th, 2005 at 1:00 PM EDT Hello, hello.  I have a brand new Opinion article for you today.

Soon will come some big announcements, so stay tuned.

JD

July 29th, 2005 at 9:20 PM EDT I apologize for the lack of content updates lately.  There has been some behind-the-scenes stuff going on with the site lately.  All I can say is... read this.

I promise for those of you who love the content, more is coming soon.  In fact, since Saturday mornings are usually when I'm most coffee-fueled, don't be surprised to see one or two pop in to say hello tomorrow.

JD

July 24th, 2005 at 2:30 AM EDT How is everyone doing today?

So, how about the whole San Andreas controversy?  Personally, it should've stayed at M, and the whole "hot coffee" mod is way overblown.  They don't even really show anything!  Even though I like Hilary Clinton and I want her to run and win the presidency in 2008 (since compared to the people on the Republican Party, she's Albert Einstein), she really shouldn't stick her nose in the video games.

Also, Harry Potter Number Six came out.  It really does add more depth to each character, and I'm really dying to find out what will happen in the seventh book.

And finally, English Episode 52 is up! Enjoy!

JD - I really don't get the people who wanted the rating to be pushed up on San Andreas.

July 19th, 2005 at 12:40 PM EDT How art thou?

Thou art very lucky today.

Thy am giving you a new Episode Comparison!  Thy art bestowing upon thou,  English Episode 51!

JD

July 11th, 2005 at 11:30 AM EDT We have a new Draconmouth Opinion today.

Before I present to you the suckosity that IS Eternal Duelist Soul, I'd just like to tell you that what Nintendo did to create it- they took Duel Monsters 5 and 6, took some of the art from the former, some of the art from the latter, and made it into one game.  The result?  A very slow-moving dub-ridden conglomeration.  You'll see what I mean tonight!

JD

July 9th, 2005 at 3:20 PM EDT (Update 2 of 2) The first brand spanking new VG Comparison is now up. I present to you, Duel Monsters 4!

JD

July 9th, 2005 at 1:03 PM EDT (Update 1 of 2) Today we have a brand spanking new opinion by GreatSaiyaman777.  It is about his fansubbing group that takes on the Winx Club DVDs and subs them from Italian to English.  Take a look!

I'm working on some new VG Comparisons, the first of which should be up later today... maybe.  Until then, jaa ne!

JD

July 3rd, 2005 at 12:14 PM EDT It seems as though I'm the only person who hasn't submitted to the chaos and started a blog yet.  The problem with blogs is that you have to update them constantly, and that just wouldn't happen.

The JD Productions page is coming along for those interested, and I already have the first hack version completed.  Soon it will be up, folks!

Also coming soon will be new updates to the VG Comparisons page, starting with DM4.

JD

June 30th, 2005 at 8:58 PM CEN Minor update, but just thought I'd point out that an official link to my blog has been added on the front page. Also I normally don't plug my comic book site (for the simple reason I don't want updating YGO! Uncensored to be an excuse to plug my writing career), but I recently wrote an editorial on "Shojo Beat" that several people who visit this site might find interesting. If you have time to browse my other editorials, you'll find a few articles on "Shonen Jump" too.

Kevin - Yeah, I know; I only THINK I'm a real writer!

June 25th, 2005 at 8:13 PM EDT We have a new Opinion up, by the one and only Draconmouth.

JD

June 23th, 2005 at 12:54 AM EDT I have a huge announcement.

I am returning to my ROM editing roots.  Beginning in July, I'm re-opening JD Productions, and will be dual-working on both this site and JD Productions.  For those of you who don't know, I opened it in 2000 with a hack of Pokemon Gold, continued with a translation of Pokemon Green, dabbled in some Zelda, and finally I shut down the site in 2002 to work on the SpongeBobSquareSite.  I contributed to Colosseum Translations after that by releasing versions of a Pokemon Red edit called Meowth's Adventures. Yes, I was busy way back when.  Of course, nowadays my fellow old-time websites BG and Vida Translations are gone completely.  The BG people just got tired of running their site and had up a message board for the longest time, and Vida joined the army.  Neo Productions is still around, now going to legal ventures such as a CCG and MMORPGs. PR Translations is still translating/hacking the ROMS, but even they just opened a few months ago and haven't released anything to the public on the website since 2000.

What's in store?  I'm beginning with some Pokemon (of course). I was thinking continuing Meowth's Adventures with brand new layouts using Pokemap, so that's what I'll do first.  Then, possibly more of my Pokemon Green edit if it's still lying around somewhere, and after that who knows?  Now I will have the site link in a future update, so keep your eyes peeled!  I'm still gathering all the old tools, like THINGY.

As for this site, I'm still devoted to it and, trust me, I still have a huge passion for Yuugiou.  In fact, hopefully I can get up English Episode 51 very soon.  Possibly even Friday, let's hope.

JD

June 18th (Update 2 of 2), 2005 at 11:32 PM CEN

Hey everyone, Kevin here, back from my "slightly longer then a month vacation." I'm not dead, I just haven't had as much time to work on this site as I would like to. But don't worry folks, this isn't an update made just for the pure sake of telling you I'm alive and well (well, alive at least), but I actually have a new editorial up (the first one up this year...sadly enough). Also JD mentioned that I have a blog up, and you can read it here. Just in case you want to find out what is on my mind these days. Don't worry, I do talk about anime too (in fact, my most recent post is about "Howl's Moving Castle"), so it's not about my pretty boring life. Also I want to talk about "Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory" on the Nintendo DS: Yes, it looks awesome, but come JD, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MIND?!?!?!?! Are you so desperate to find games that are worthwhile on the DS that you're willing to use a stealth game as a posative thing? Trust me buddy, you DON'T want to play stealth games on handhelds, this INCLUDES the PSP!!! "Splinter Cell" is all about sneaking past your enemies in the most silent way you can. You want full analog control, a decent sized TV, and surround sound when playing a game like this. Total immersion is the best way to play this game, and a handheld anything would be doing this wonderful game a disservice.

Kevin - Feeling more useless everyday.

June 18th (Update 1 of 2), 2005 at 12:30 PM EDT Yeah, the summer's been rip-roaring so far. One comparison.  Well, fear not, our adoring fans, because I have another one in the oven for tonight!  Now, I have been doing major stuff this summer. Furthering my study of Spanish, study for the SATs I'm taking next January, as well as rediscovering Pokemon and trying to catch all 386.

Anyway, check back here tonight (at around nine) for a brand new Anime Comparison.  New Video Game comparisons will follow, and then finally a refurbish of the TCG Comparison area (which to date has only had one comparison for the year it's been up).

Ciao!

JD

June 9th, 2005 at 10:30 PM EDT I don't know if you've taken a look at some of the games coming to Nintendo DS this month, but one game in particular completely floored me.  Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory arrives on DS this month, and I took a look at some video at IGN.  Holy F**ing Shit, I didn't know the DS could pull off graphics that amazing.  Even Kevin has to admit that the controls and graphics of the portable Splinter Cell are excellent.

New comparisons tomorrow!!

JD

June 8th, 2005 at 7:10 PM EDT Teh Day is finally here.  School is out, and that means lots more updating on my part.  You shouldn't be surprised to see two comparisons per day on most days, since I'm kicking it into overdrive to get through the "Battle" sagas of Yuugiou.

On a semi-related note, Kevin, do some updating over here, man!  I'm lonely!  (In a webmaster sort of way)  Even if it's just non-updating, it's nice to see that orange signature!

On a completely UN-related note, I'm going to Hersheypark with a bunch of people this Monday, as well as doing stuff on Friday, so you may not see any comparisons those days.

Finally, to kick off the summer, here is English Episode 49.

JD- Hallelujah!!!

June 5th, 2005 at 11:30 AM EDT Hello everyone!  Again, no updates to the content, but we still need a third staff member!  For a website that gets 150 hits a day, you might think that one of those people in six days (for those who are math impaired, that's 900 hits) would e-mail us asking to be a staff member. Anyway, please e-mail one of us to sign up to be a third staff member.

Three days until summer officially begins for yours truly.  Now, I will have my hands quite full, with this website, reading novels for AP History next year, as well as studying for next year's spelling bee.  Plus, I am starting up a babysitting service for some extra cash (it actually offers some good money).

I am planning to hit through the Battle City episodes and actually get through both City and Ship this month.  Of course, I'm doing this because when the babysitting service commences in July I'm not going to be doing that many comparisons, for obvious reasons.

Now, many things have happened these past couple of days to me, in case anyone actually gives a damn.  I had my Algebra final (which I can proudly say I got a 93 on), Spanish final (which I probably got 110 on), as well as a huge 100 point History project I had been working on all day yesterday.  It was supposed to be a group project, but my dumbass group pretty much slacked off the whole time, and only got done the research.  So guess who got stuck putting all the stuff on the poster?  Me.  So yes, it has been a stressful week, but today is my 14th birthday and we're going out for cheesesteaks to celebrate (only the best, Philly Steaks and Hoagies).

One more thing- congrats to Kevin on getting a blog started!  There's no way I would ever do one of those, because it'd only get updated every century, but to each their own.  It's got some interesting stuff on it, so go check it out by clicking the blog link on TheComicBookGuy.com.

One last thing- if you haven't seen Star Wars Episode III yet, don't be afraid to see it just because you know the ending.  The action in the movie is superb- one of my favorite scenes is when Emperor Palpatine is dueling Mace Windu, and Palpatine casts the thunder on Windu, revealing himself to be Darth Sidious.  Then, Anakin chops Windu's hand off.  Great stuff!

JD

May 29th, 2005 at 11:30 AM EDT Seventy Thoooooooooousand Hits.  To anyone who e-mails me first that they were the Special One who took us from 69,999 to 70,000 a prize will be yours.

Also, we still need a third member, and you should e-mail either Kevin or I to apply.  To e-mail us, simply go to the About the Staff page and click on one of our e-mails.

Yuugiou Anime Comparisons will continue after June 8th (the end of school a.k.a. Salvation Time).  We pick up in the beginning of BC, and I am vowing to take a couple of days and get through all of them.  We move onto BS in July, Noa in late July/early August, and Alcatraz in mid-to late August.  This means we'll be at DOOM (which just ended on Kids WB yesterday) at the start of school.  Wonderful.

JD

May 18th, 2005 at 11:32 PM CEN

I really hate my job sometimes. As you've read below Conan won't be joining the staff of this site. Why not? Heck if I know, he didn't e-mail me about this or anything. This means that we are still a staff member short. This means that I am now accepting applications for a third staff member of YGO! U. Here are the qualifications you must have:

  • Must have access to YGO! GX episodes (this will be your main job).
  • Must know HTML.
  • Must know how to use FTP.
  • Must update within the first week of joining staff (if you don't do this then you will be fired immediatly).
  • Other jobs for you will be given once hired. Send job applications to me at comicbookguy at comcast dot net (I assume you guys know how to make this into an e-mail address).

Thank you for reading, and I look forward to getting your applications.

Kevin - I'm pissed. Can you tell I'm pissed?

May 18, 2005 at 8:00 PM EDT

I have two things to spout on today.  First off, I have re-instated the BoldChat on the front page, but in a different way.  This way, the button changes by itself so I don't have to keep going and re-doing the HTML.  Second, and most important... Conan will not be joining us, according to his Farewell Message he's posted on the OA forums.  I just read it about a minute ago and had a plethora of emotions going through my head.  For decency's sake, I won't post many of them here.  However, SSJ Conan was a respected member of OA, and it plagues me to see that quite possibly something occured that would prompt him to leave the Internet.  More than likely he will be back, unless he's going in some cave to live, but I wouldn't be surprised if he never came back to the Yuugiou community.

That's all for now.  If you want to chat with me about this, I'm open now on the BoldChat.  Feel free to support or give criticism to my thoughts here.

JD

May 14, 2005 at 1:55 PM EDT Another day, another update. This time, however, I'd like to reflect on my past year here at Yuugiou Uncensored. Yes, believe it or not, it has been one full year since I began here!  Now, I won't go into full detail, because you'd all be bored to death and want to play E.T. the video game.  Instead, I'll just make this brief.  At first, I did two YGO Uncensored websites- this one and my own.  I soon decided to close my own Uncensored site and start here full time.  I brought over my two crown jewels of YGO Uncensored II- TCG and Video Game Comparisons.  Since then, I have re-formatted the VG Comparison page. Now, as for the meat of the site, Anime Comparisons, I've typed up over 45 comparisons for this site.  I've done an Editorial, typed up four Opinion essays from e-mail (and guys, ANY essay is likely to be placed here, so keep sending them), re-did the E-Mail page and changed it to About the Staff, and tweaked a few things here and there.  Yes, I have had a big year here.  Now, I have had my downs here as well, and as any decent journalist would do, I want to tell you a few.  I did a YGO The Movie review for YGO II, and I typed it in a hurry.  I still haven't changed it, but I hope to in the summer.  For those of you wondering, the reason it was only three paragraphs long is because I honestly thought that the short length of it would be a direct reflection of my opinions.  It didn't go over well, but you will see a longer, re-tooled version of it soon.

Now, onto the future.  All of the stuff I'm saying to you will only be possible things that could happen, but not absolute.  One is that I'm designing a brand new layout for Yuugiou Uncensored, involving shift of the buttons to the left, among other things.  It shouldn't be up until October at the earliest, so please don't come on the site tomorrow expecting to be dazzled with new images. ^_^  When GX rolls around in October or so, Kevin or I will compare Japanese Episode 1, and then SSJ Conan will compare Episodes 2 through the end of the series.  At the same time, I will continue comparing the original Battle City/Ship episodes of Yuugiou and then moving on to Noa Saga probably at the end of the year.

Remember, we still have the super special announcement that comes at the end of the summer.  Keep your bookmarks, folks!

JD- If anyone in here plays RuneScape, tell a friend about it, as it is an awesome, awesome game.

May 8, 2005 at 12:59 AM EDT All righty, I do apologize for jumping the gun a tad on the server plan- but Pegasus is now fully backed up. Pegasus is our backup server, built at my house.  It's named after, of course, Peagsus J. Crawford!  Kevin and I had some catching up to do on the future of the site, but now everything's caught up. Just in case. Now, I take back what I said about the OA, but SSJ Leia has been really nice through all of this. As for comparisons- a new one should be coming real soon.

JD

May 7, 2005 at 1:08 PM EDT Ladies and gentlemen, I have a few announcements to make.  First off, I'm currently in the process of prepping Conan for his Yuugiou Uncensored update debut, which should be soon.  Second of all, June 8th is rapidly approaching, and that means it's summer!  More time to work on the site and all that jazz.  Summer will also be a very special time for Yuugiou Uncensored, and the three of us will tell you why in August.  But now, the biggest issue we've had to face in awhile is the Otaku Alliance.  Now, I have a new server implemented in my room created by yours truly (and a little help from Dad in getting all the stuff free from his work) so anytime Kevin, Conan and I feel like it, we can move shop to Pegasus, the server. The reason? Well, obviously there's been some creative control issues lately, resulting in some people leaving the aforementioned website.  We have let them set shop up here, and if the OA doesn't like that- that's when Pegasus comes in.  Pegasus is of course named after the awesome Pegasus J. Crawford of the second season of Yuugiou (as well as a few appearances in the DOMA saga).  Now, it isn't SSJ Leia- she's been really awesome and keeps the OA afloat. In fact, her DB/Z/GT comparisons are often better than my Yuugiou comparisons, and if it wasn't for her we would be gone by now.  Seriously, Kevin was going to close the site if he didn't find a server soon.  Luckily, the OA saved us.  However, more than likely a few un-named members of the OA won't appreciate their people coming over to be featured on our site, so that's the only reason why I have my server up as a precaution.

I'm thinking about putting a picture or two up of the YGO U back-up server- it's really ultra-cool and has its own flat-screen monitor.  But then again, don't want to brag.

JD-  Yuugi would be defenseless against the awesome power of MY Pegasus... hehehe.

April 26th, 2005 at 6:55 PM EDT Welcome, Conan!  I do thank you for lightening the load a little bit Anime-wise.  This way I can focus more on the sections of the site that I developed: TCG, and Video Games.  After all, that's what made my old site YGO II special: it went beyond Chris's layout with just Anime Comparisons and expanded the horizon with TCG and VGs.

So, as Kevin said, Conan will be doing "scripts" (which, until some research on OA's site, I had no idea what they were exactly... turns out they are transcripts of episodes) as well as comparing the GX saga, which obviously is not my cup of tea.  So really, he's beneficial to this site.  Plus, maybe I can convince him to do a comparison or two of the regular site- after all, I've done pretty much all of them up to this point, with the exception of the first couple- since they were the first, they required Kevin's care in comparing them so we'd know every detail in what they changed.  Since then, though, Kevin has quit comparisons because of college and his Comic Book Guy website (still love that name), so it's pretty much been me doing the past 48 comparisons.  I am glad Super Saiya-jin Conan is joining us, and I hope you give him a warm welcome to this site.

No content today, but the first three Duel Monsters VGs are up in the Video Game Comparison section.

And, I still call dibs on comparing the first GX episode! :)

JD-  Conan, you need to pick your signature color! ^_^

April 25th, 2005 at 12:21 AM CEN

Hey yo everyone. I have an announcement to make today. As of today, there will be a new member of the "Yu-Gi-Oh! Uncensored!" staff members. This member will be contributing scripts of the Japanese episodes of YGO!, doing the YGO! GX comparisons (when the show eventually airs), and all this other cool stuff. Ladies (all three of you) and gentlemen, please welcome SSJ Conan:

The name is Conan, I'm the new guy on YGO U and ready to do what I can to help all the important info seeking. If you've been to the Otaku Alliance then I'm sure you've read my dvd reviews and GT U comparison, as well as I wrote a few scripts for their Project Shinonome and am a member on their message board. As far as Yu-Gi-Oh! Uncensored goes, I have big plans and a couple of surprises that you likely won't find anywhere else, so prepare to keep an eye on my updates, I'll be starting a new area in the "Series" section soon enough, and have a very special surprise for the people whom want to know how Yugi and Yami's destiny culminates. Email me if you wish, the email box is free to send something. And so I'm here ready to give my help to JD and Kevin to the best of my ability, ??

Welcome aboard Conan, we all look forward to having you as part of the staff.

Kevin - Did I mention what a cool game "Splinter Cell Chaos Theory" is yet?

April 23rd, 2005 at 3:41 PM EDT Well, well, well.  How is everyone?

Now, I have great news for all.  For the first time in almost a whole year, the Video Game Comparisons page has been COMPLETELY reformatted.  Take a look, you'll like what you see.

JD

April 17th, 2005 at 12:20 AM EST It seems we have breaking news, or at least for me.  The idiot people at 4Kids are already promoting GX.  What does this mean?  Well, they will either air GX in conjunction with the KC Cup (then Memory World)... or... they will air the KC Cup, SKIP Memory World entirely due to its graphic nature, and go to GX.  Yep.  I really hope they go with the former and air both at once. The Memory World is the most awesome and powerful anime season on Yuugiou.  Of course, it was also the LONGEST saga in the manga, and they had to shorten it in order to get to Yuugiou GX when converting from print to animation.  It will really be a sad day on Earth if 4Kids decides to skip it entirely, ala the First Series, just to get to GX which is inferior in every way.  Oh, and before you ask, 4Kids is KEEPING the "GX" part of the new series... because they think it will sound cool to the little seven year olds.  Shoot me now.

Then again, they could pull a Dragon Ball GT and market the First Series (Sennen Puzzle Arc) and Memory Arc as the "Lost Episodes".

I do, however, have good news-  a brand new Opinion is up, which features Jaya Lakshmi (Draconmouth). I hope to update again soon, but I know I'll be up to my butt in work these next few days after being absent for four days straight following my surgery.

JD

April 15th, 2005 at 7:30 PM EST (Update 6 of 6)

*Looks down and sees FIVE updates for one day below this one*

Holy crap. I think we're setting Uncensored records or something.  Anyway, it's ok if Kevin wanted to change the Update size, it was only a minor cosmetic change anyway.  Now, as for Kevin's DS comment. Eh heh. Yuugiou for XBox and PS2 do exactly the same thing as this, but most of the time (at least on the XBox version- I don't have a PS2, so...) the gameplay shifts from the dueling field to the 3D action and forward and back and back again.  Wouldn't it be nicer to have the 3D on the top, and 2D on the bottom without all the shifting?  As for Metroid: Prime Hunters, yes you do drag Samus Aran with a pen, but you can also do it with the D-Pad, or the X, Y, B, and A buttons.  Plus, the full game (not the demo) will offer online support- that's where it gets fun.  Playing against the entire world in Metroid: Prime Hunters in online, which MPH is expected to have... I anxiously await the day.  As for the whole "gimmick" thing, the dual screens may be a gimmick however they do serve their purpose.  And I don't know about you, but using the start button in conjunction with fighting metroids with missiles would be a pain in the butt for me.  And, if you don't like the DS, there's always the next GameBoy, slated to come out this Christmas at the earliest.  According to Nintendo, that will be the TRUE competition to the PSP.  Because of this, I will now not finish DS vs. PSP, and instead do a Rant on that when the next GameBoy makes its debut. See, I can be fair in my criticism too.  (So if you want to know how to spell it, it's like critic, then ism)  Oh, and as Kevin said, don't buy a PSP... unless you get a friend to import one from Japan.  See, over there PSPs cost a mere $180, so if you have a pal living in Japan, just ship him the money (provided he's honest) and he'll bring back a PSP, over $70 less than ours here in America.

JD- No war, I think it'd be rather silly to start a war against another staff member... we have enough problems with certain... other... sites.  Stay tuned for Update Seven!  Just kidding, but tomorrow expect another comparison.

April 15th, 2005 at 1:21 PM EST (Update 5 of 6)

And here we are with a FIFTH update today! Pretty amazing no? Anyway, there's not anything really important about this update, but I've changed reverted the update size again. Sorry JD, but I personally don't like having to scroll to the sides to read the whole update, and I'm pretty sure most of our visitors will agree with me. So sorry, but I think we'll stick with what's worked for all these years. As for the DS thing: People, don't listen to him. There is nothing worth owning on the DS. While you may think the idea of two screens is cool, all the game companies have yet to do something revolutionary with it. That example JD used? Useless. There are YGO! games for the PS2 and XBox that do the excact same thing on ONE screen, so why you need two I don't know! You want to read maps and look at stats while playing a game? Is it that hard to press the start button for the same effect? And that Metroid game...yeah, it's REAL great! Just what I needed; a Metroid game where you drag Samous around with a pen. Real fun huh? Nevermind that there are only about 10 to 15 games for the system with no new games from third party developers coming out (only ports of old games that will be no different then to offer you a map on the second screen), and I have to wonder how blind faith in Nintendo can be. Their system is a gimmick, and not a very good one at that. I've been playing games for 20 years now, and I can honestly say that the DS is one of the silliest ideas I'd seen in years. Oh, and the PSP can push GC like graphics too. Don't believe me? There are screen shots out there, so we're already seeing this type of power unleashed. Ah but why worry about all this? Most likely most of our visitors aren't able to afford either one of the systems anyway. And just for the record, no I don't have a PSP. Will I get one? Yes. But with that said, I think $250 is FAR too much money for a handheld, and I will be waiting for the price to drop first! See, I am fair in my critisim.

Kevin - Sorry about the war that's waging on this page.

April 15th, 2005 at 1:21 PM EST (Update 4 of 6)

Ho there, it is now Update FOUR. 4 updates in one day. Now screw 3 updates, this IS a first for YGO U.  I will now reveal my plan for BC comparisons.  Over the course of the next two months leading up to the summer, I'm going to try to get all 29 episodes of BC done.  That means one comparison every other day.  I'll do my best to live up to that, but I'm not giving any promises.  You know what happens when I promise stuff. ^_-

Four updates isn't the only Yuugiou Uncensored first I'm making- we also have the first time in YGO U history I've done three comparisons in one day!  English Episode 48 is up!

April 15th, 2005 at 12:36 PM EST (Update 3 of 6) Everyone... the moment has come. We all knew it was coming, and it's here.

WE'RE  ONTO BATTLE CITY!

English Episode 47 is up, which means we are now onto Battle City full-time.  If you all recall, I already compared English Episode 50, you can read it nyah. That means we are going to be comparing English Episode 48 next.  I'm doing a really bad job of hiding my excitement now! Episodes 48 and 49 deal with Bandit Keith Howard's duel with Yuugi.  Of course, it was revealed that Keith was under the control of an unknown person (Malik).  They are MUCH more exciting that the DDM episodes.

My plans for comparing Battle City will be revealed on our final update for today, which will include a comparison.

April 15th, 2005 at 11:50 AM EST (Update 2 of 6) We should have some more brand new comparisons later today.

Now, I'd like to chat briefly about the DS.  First off, Yuugiou Nightmare Troubadour is slated for DS release in May.  This is the game where you can duel on the bottom and watch it played out on the top.  Second, Metroid Prime Hunters is coming out for DS soon as well, and may be the first game to offer online support.  One final thing-  the Play-Yan is slated to make its way across the Atlantic soon as well.  For those of you who don't know, Play-Yan plays music and movies on the DS, emulating PSP.  In other words, there won't be anything different between the DS and PSP except for graphics, and of course the DS will have more engaging games.  That's right people, the DS has been confirmed to have NINETY-SIX bit graphics.  Now, I don't know what the PSP has, probably higher than that, but at least we know the DS can push its power higher than N64, and possibly into GameCube.  Here's to hoping!

April 15th, 2005 at 10:20 AM EST (Update 1 of 6) English Episode 46 is now up! One more and we're on to Battle City, baby!

We're trying a different Update format today, which is that we've stretched out the date and time farther.  Later today, I should get the final two Filler Arc episodes up. No promises though.  While you're waiting, look below.  Our Updates Archive starts in January 2003 when Kevin began the site, through the time when I joined, to now. Check it out, you'll be amazed at how our site has evolved.

When you're done that, go to this hilariously funny site about an American who lives in Japan to be a student teacher. It's great stuff!
